We are looking for a committed team player to join the Respiratory/Lung Cancer multidisciplinary team as a Lung Cancer Pathway Navigator and Administrator. This post is integral to implementing the timed optimal pathway for patients with suspected lung cancer, to achieve definitive diagnosis by day 28.
The post holder will improve patient experience by providing a friendly non- clinical contact for patients and families, providing support and information to reduce patient anxiety and provide reassurance and information on interventions/tests, ensuring patients come to interventions well prepared.
The post holder is responsible for delivering timely and accurate administrative support to the clinicians delivering the service, mainly specialist nursing colleagues. They will also provide comprehensive support to the lung cancer multidisciplinary team through the co-ordination of primary and tertiary referrals.
Main duties of the job
In addition the successful candidate will be required to work across a range of IT systems to coordinate the booking of patient appointments in the timed optimal lung pathway, generate reports and ensure accurate patient pathway tracking. They will work both directly and indirectly with patients and their families/carers to assist in coordinating the care of patients through their hospital journey, identifying and resolving barriers to pathways, working closely with Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary teams.

You will be able to work under pressure, have excellent written and verbal skills, excellent planning, time-management and organisational skills, as well as being an innovative thinker and always willing to put forward ideas. You must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues and be willing to be a friendly single point of contact for patients, carers and the healthcare team.
