Within the Clinical Service Unit (CSU) the Elderly and intermediate Care Department have an exciting opportunity for you to join our established team.

As Matron for Elderly Care services you will be responsible for the 3 acute elderly care wards at Bradford Royal Infirmary and our downstream and intermediate care wards at St Lukes Hospital and two intermediate care wards at Westbourne Green hospital and Westwood Park hospital assisted by a Deputy Matron.

If you are forward thinking, dynamic and enthusiastic and have current acute NHS experience at Band 7 or above with proven leadership and management skills including operational flow then look no further.

You will need to be flexible and resilient in order to cope with the demands of the role. in addition you must be able to influence and negotiate in order to improve the service your teams provide for their patients.

The post holder will be based at BRI and be expected to travel to St Luke's, Westwood Park and Westbourne green on a weekly basis and therefore the ability to travel is essential.

The post invloves a 5 day standard working week with the ability to be responsive to out of hours working when required.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Deputy Director of Nursing, Clinical Director and Senior General Manager to ensure quality and safety of patients is delivered as well as delivering financial, strategic and operational goals.

As Matron you will be a visible and reassuring presence for our patients and their families whom they can trust to ensure high quality care is delivered for all patients all of the time. You will be an active member of the team in a continuous drive for quality as well as demonstrating extensive clinical leadership experience.

You will provide professional leadership and ensure that the needs of the patients are placed at the center of everything we do. You will ensure that staff feel supported and thrive within the clinical areas, providing evidence based quality care to every patient.

With the support of the Deputy Director of Nursing you will take responsibility for action planning and implementing change within the clinical area working with the ward and service managers to ensure that specialty, CSU and Trust objectives and targets are met.

You will be able to demonstrate how you have positively influences nursing and elderly patient care and have experience of change management. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of progressive leadership and development, be an effective role model, self motivated with passion, drive and adaptability to cope with continuously changing services.
