Job summary

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic Speech and Language Therapist to join our service within Acute Inpatients at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Our inpatient service covers all adult acute wards including Stroke, Neurology, Critical care, Respiratory, Surgical and medical admissions. We benefit from positive working relationships with all members of the MDT including our joint-videofluoroscopy clinics in which we use the MBSImp protocol. We also have an established FEES Service supporting dysphagia management across all specialties. Within our Stroke service we are successfully using neuromuscular electrical stimulation as part of the dysphagia rehabilitation we offer to our patients.

To deliver in this role you will be able to work independently with a range of communication and swallowing disorders across our inpatient wards. The role will also involve supervision of junior colleagues and/or students and participation in service development projects including education and training. To deliver the full remit of this role you will require dysphagia management skills, however we would be open to considering offering the post as a band 5-6 developmental opportunity which would become band 6 on completion of training. Additionally, this post holder will join other B6 team members in a rotation every 6 months in acute medicine and Stroke.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a team member who is a team player with a 'can do' approach and dedicated to providing high quality care to patients as well as committed to their own development. We have a strong focus on service and clinical development and all our team members are supported to upskill in order to develop specialist roles.

We are a well-established, supportive and friendly team with staff wellbeing at the forefront of team development. This is achieved through a strong pastoral care approach to management. As part of the service, you will benefit from peer support and clinical supervision within the wider inpatient team.

In short, we can help you lift your career to the next level.
