BTHFT are looking to recruit two new Maintenance Workers to carry out a range of maintenance duties across the Foundation Trust premises, including painting / decorating, building fabric repairs, undertake basic diagnostics and repair of faults in mechanical and electrical installations; plant and equipment, painting, building fabric; grounds and gardens maintenance and general support across all core engineering trades.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be expected to carry out routine maintenance requests in an efficient and effective manner to support successful delivery of a customer focused estate maintenance service for the Foundation Trust.

- Significant relevant experience and background in the maintenance industry.
Desirable
- Experience of carrying out general building maintenance, problem solving, making safe equipment and carrying out repairs.
Skills
Essential
- A flexible attitude, prepared to work out of hours
- Ability to carry out manual labour for prolonged periods on a daily basis, which would include the use of appropriate lifting and handling techniques.
- Willingness to work outside during inclement weather; experience heat and humidity associated with plant such as boilers/ sewage, body fluids, gas fumes etc
- Willing to undertake further training relevant to the post.
Desirable
- Computer literate.
- Hold current valid driving licence.
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of general building fabric maintenance / electrical / mechanical and plumbing systems and equipment. This should have been acquired through working / training within the industry.
- Knowledge of safe working practices including safe operation of ladders, steps and scaffolding.
- Knowledge of health and safety practice relevant to the building and engineering industry
- Knowledge and appreciation of engineering principles and practices.
