An exiting opportunity has arisen for part time band 6 Rheumatology Clinical Nurse specialist with the development to a band 7 in the future
The post holder will become an integral part of the well-established multi-disciplinary rheumatology team. The post holder will be expected to conduct outpatient and telephone rheumatology clinics with the provision of specialist nursing expertise to inform the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for rheumatology patients. They will be expected to provide professional leadership for all nurses and allied professionals involved in the delivery of care; support and development of service provision working in the multidisciplinary team. In order to achieve the necessary standard progress to Band 7 the post holder will be required to undertaken a period of training and achieve set objectives in agreement with the Lead Nurse in rheumatology.
Main duties of the job
This specialist post will exercise judgement, discretion and decision-making in clinical care, in relation to the management of patients diagnosed within their speciality, their carers and professionals involved in their care. Thus enabling through direct and indirect activity the monitoring and improving of standards of care, clinical audit, development of practice through research, teaching and the support of professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership in and around rheumatology nursing. They will act as an autonomous practitioner and have the freedom to act to influence patient care and service provision, in conjunction with Lead Nurse and Consultant Rheumatologists.
The post holder will provide highly specialist clinical nursing expertise to rheumatology patients running nurse led clinics. There will also be a requirement to monitor and care for patients on standard biologic and disease modifying drugs, including immunosuppressive and cytotoxic therapies.
The post holder will be required to ensure the smooth running of the service by working closely with senior Clinical Nurse Specialists, Consultants and other Multi-Disciplinary Team members. Working with senior management teams you will be required to lead on certain areas of clinical governance, audit and research, and facilitate managing risk and dealing with complaints.
