A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and experienced Neonatal Nurses to join our team and provide leadership within our service. Bradford Neonatal service is a well-established 31 cot NICU and 9 cot Transitional Care Unit providing care for both infants born locally and those from across the wider Yorkshire & Humber region requiring specialist high quality support. We successfully re-accredited as UNICEF Baby Friendly in 2023.

We have had a number of recent successes in developing a large education team, perinatal palliative care support and specialist infant feeding nurses so now is a really exciting time to be part of team Bradford. We have also recently launched innovative Special Care Coordinator roles that are proving to help colleagues on the unit to provide the level of care that all nurses aspire to achieve.

Main duties of the job

Work life balance is of the utmost importance on the unit and as such the unit has recently moved towards a staff/team self-rostering approach.

To come and join our team you will need to have excellent leadership, clinical and communication skills. You will be a motivated team player and someone who is approachable to colleagues and families on the unit. The successful candidate will also aspire to continually develop.

Clinical Quality & Safety

  • To ensure all families receive support and expert advice regarding care and development of their infant.
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates specialist care or treatment regimens for patients within the neonatal services, taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender, cultural background and preferences of the family, making reasonable adjustments to care where this is appropriate.
  • To ensure that all staff encourage and support parents to develop an early relationship with their baby to support positive long term development in line with national guidance.
  • To provide expert and professional support for staff; demonstrating a commitment to best practice in all areas.
  • To work closely with the Infant Feeding MDT to implement and maintain the UNICEF best practice neonatal standards for infant feeding throughout the trust.
  • Works independently and in conjunction with the Senior Nursing team to ensure that neonatal practices are both evidence based and developed in line with best practice literature.
