An exciting opportunity has come up a Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to join a developing hand therapy team. The post is permanent and full time although part time hours will be considered for a suitable candidate.
The role requires specialist knowledge to assess and treat of a wide variety of hand pathologies following acute trauma and elective surgery from the Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic services within the Trust. Patients are also referred from First Contact Practitioners and GPs. Applicants must have prior experience within hand therapy. We welcome application from existing Band 7 clinicians and Band 6 clinicians looking to develop their role.
Main duties of the job
To provide high standard hand therapy service to patients with hand and wrist conditions/
To work as part of a specialist multidisciplinary Hand team
To cover specialist out-patient clinics alongside Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery Consultants as well as supporting the hand therapy team.
To undertake advanced hand therapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who have diverse presentations and complex hand and wrist conditions.
To hold responsibility for own caseload.
To undertake clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
To be responsible for service development within the hand therapy team.
To ensure knowledge and treatment interventions are current and evidence based.

- Significant post graduate experience.
- Recent experience in the NHS.
- Significant experience at Band 6 or equivalent in working in with MSK conditions.
- Experience working at Band 6 / equivalent with hand conditions including post-surgical conditions and trauma.
- Experience of supervising/appraising therapy staff.
- Experience of student supervision.
Desirable
- Experience of both static and dynamic thermoplastic splinting.

- Good skills in core areas of Hand therapy practice.
