Department: SKIPTON RENAL SATELLITE UNIT
37.5 HOURS PER WEEK
Due to expansion of the service an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Renal Dialysis team at Skipton Satellite Unit within the specialist medicine division. The unit will be open Monday - Saturday 07:00 to 22:45, and various shifts patterns are available between these hours to ensure safe staffing of the unit.
Located at the 'Gateway to the Dales' the Skipton Satellite Unit is a 10 stationed nurse led haemodialysis unit focused on delivering renal replacement therapy to a group of patients from our specific catchment area. We are part of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post will offer a registered nurse joining this specialist area of practice an excellent learning opportunity. The long term nature of the condition enables the team to build professional relationships with the patient group, without impacting on the Professional Code. The successful candidate will be expected to complete a comprehensive training/ teaching package during an extended supernumerary period. You will have the opportunity to gain ward experience as part of preceptorship period. There will also be an opportunity to gain insight into other areas of the renal service including peritoneal dialysis, transplant and pre-dialysis care. There may be occasions where you will be required to increase your experience working on the renal unit at Bradford.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the assessment of patients' care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of patient care
Participates in team leadership and the management of the ward/department, including supervision and delegation of work to junior staff as directed by the ward/department manager
Participates in teaching, mentoring and assessing of students, trainees and professional staff
