Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Radiographer to join the friendly team in Interventional Imaging at Bradford Teaching Hospitals on a 12 month secondment.

We are a very forward thinking department working closely as a team with consultants and nurses.

We provide both a vascular and a non-vascular intervention service alongside cardiology intervention. We have a radiographer led PICC line insertion program staffed by both intervention Radiographers and Nurses,

We are part of the West Yorkshire Vascular Centre providing vascular care to patients across the region.

The Service is able to offer this post as a 12 month secondment opportunity.

Summary of Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:

  • BSc Radiography
  • HCPC Registered
  • Experience in use of the Radiology Information system CRIS and PACS

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain and enhance clinical expertise ensuring high technical and professional standards at all times.
  • To ensure imaging procedures are carried out in accordance with mandatory department systems of work and protocols.
  • To actively develop high standards of patient care through involvement in department audit and QA programmes.
  • Provide a high quality service in vascular and interventional radiology and be sensitive to specific patient needs, being able to adapt examinations to produce high quality images in a timely manner.
  • To keep updated in current trends in Radiography and take an active part in Clinical Governance. Establishing and maintaining a pattern of study that fulfils CPD criteria.
  • To be able to work in high pressure or distressing situations, where patients may be critically unwell.
  • Use expertise in specialist clinical areas to assist sound independent decision-making.
  • To work in unpleasant working conditions involving frequent exposure to bodily fluids.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post will give the opportunity to work within both peripheral and cardiac intervention including coronary angioplasty and EVAR.

We are looking for a dedicated, patient focused individual, with high quality Radiographic skills. The individual will need to be flexible and able to work well either as an individual or as part of a team.

The successful applicant would be expected to work at either Trust site, dependent on service needs and an extended working day across the seven day week may be required.

The applicant must also:

Be able to contend with contaminated equipment resulting from e.g. incontinent/ infection risk patients, trauma patients etc.

To carry out high quality diagnostic imaging examinations according to departmental and national protocols whilst maintaining high standards of patient care.

To contribute towards the efficient deployment of resources; enabling patients to receive a safe, accurate and timely examination.

To work as a member of the Interventional radiology team.

To supervise and train junior staff members.

The post holder will be expected to work unsupervised out-of-hours and participate in a busy on-call service covering vascular and Interventional radiology.

Competency in IV cannulation and administration of IV contrast media via high pressure injectors.
