Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Dental Nurse to join our Maxillofacial Department full time. We are a very busy department and we are looking for reliable individuals who are willing to work as part of a team of dental nurses but also within a wider disciplinary team.

You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and pleasant disposition and also have knowledge of a range of dental procedures.

Skills / Qualifications Required:

  • The National Certificate for Dental Nurses/NVQ Oral Health Care Dental Nursing Level 3 and
  • Registration with The General Dental Council is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high standards of patient care at all times.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Prepare clinic for surgery and reviews, with the correct investigations, blood results, scans, x-rays and patient models correctly.
  • Assists in supervising and teaching new members of staff within the department.
  • Preparation of patients, instrumentation and surgeries for clinical surgical work, maintaining high standards of cross infection, cleaning of surgeries and sterilisation of equipment.
  • Welcome and prepare patients for treatment.
  • Document treatment inforParticipate in health education and health promotion. Give patients post - operative treatment instructions.
  • Participate in extending skills of clinical practice when appropriate taking intra - oral radiographs skills, assist with sedation of patients.
