An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our fit Testing team. We are looking for enthusiastic, organised and reliable staff to join our friendly team. You must be passionate about supporting staff and patient safety and be a good team player.
To fulfil this exciting role, you must be able to liaise confidently with staff at all levels, have excellent communication skills and be willing to work independently and within a team. You must have excellent inter personal skills and be able to put staff at ease to obtain a good face fit test.
The fit testing team is vital to ensure our Trust is compliant with the Health and Safety policy and legislation around procedure and practice and also the National requirements in terms of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) programme. This is to ensure resilience whilst the NHS responds to new demands due to changing outbreaks, guidance and prepares for any future uncertainties. The health and safety of our staff has always been paramount.
The successful candidates will be working at the main site of BTHFT and the service is provided six days a week Monday to Saturday.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing a fit testing service for all staff that require to wear respiratory protective equipment, called FFP3, either disposable or reusable masks, and fitting of powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) as part of the job. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing a high level of comprehensive support to staff being mask-fit tested and providing expert advice, support and education in all matters relating to mask fit testing and the use of an FFP3 mask.
The fit testers are expected to understand the respiratory risks to staff and the importance of using respiratory protective equipment ( RPE) for a good face fit. They will have an expert knowledge of regulations and guidance of HSE & DHSC and Trust policies. They will be knowledgeable about the purpose and applicability of fit testing, selection of adequate and suitable RPE, correct donning and doffing procedure and pre use fit checks, problem solving diagnostics , capabilities and limitations of the fit test equipment and interpretation of results and record keeping.
The successful applicant will receive full training for the role, with continued mentorship and support from our team however knowledge of fit testing and its importance is a requirement of the role. You are required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values and the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.
