Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist or Clinical Scientist to join our busy department. Working with eight Cardiologists and five Respiratory Physicians, the department provides a wide range of complex cardiac and respiratory investigations including Cardiac Catheterisation, PCI, Pacemaker and AICD implant and follow up, Cardiac and Metabolic stress testing, Transthoracic, Transoesophageal and Stress Echocardiography. We are part way through the implementation of a large dedicated IT system which will pull together all the clinical and administrative systems across the department. We have also introduced new services such as non-medical ILR implantation and are always looking at ways for staff to extend their scope of practice in order to provide the best service for our patients.

We are embarking on an ambitious project to renew / expand the current cath lab facilities and this post holder would be an integral part of that project team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead on the physiologist input into the Cardiac Cath Lab - including IVUS, OCT and FFR.
The post holder will be an expert in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) and will be responsible for leading the cardiac physiologist invasive service including Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device (CIED) implant.
The post holder will be responsible for ensure continued service delivery of this specialism and adherence to national, international and local best practice.
The post holder will be responsible for identifying, advising and introducing service developments and implementing changes to practice in the field based on evidence based research and best practice guidelines.
The post holder, along with the Lead Cardiac Physiologist for education and training and the lead Cardiac Physiologist for Devices will be responsible for devising and implementing training plans in the invasive field, ensuring all Cardiac Physiology staff involved in this service are competent to practice independently and have obtained or are supported to work towards BHRS/IBHRE/EHRA accreditation. They will also be responsible for the ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) of competent staff through education, peer review and staff appraisal.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the ICD on-call service.

We have a dedicated training budget which allows staff to be supported to attend national and international educational events.
