Job summary

The opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistants to join the vascular surgical team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The ward supports patients with complex vascular conditions; it has a multidisciplinary focus and works alongside the teams in Leg Ulcer Clinic and outpatients. Your role is to provide direct support and compassion in line with the rest of the team providing holistic care and promoting positive patient experiences and outcomes.

Main duties of the job

Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:

Genuine interest in caring for patients

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in challenging circumstances

Ability to manage time

Ability to keep calm and work under pressure in a demanding area using team work

Additional skills such as cannulation and phlebotomy and ECG recording would be a benefit

Essential

  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in health/health and social care, QCF Diploma in health, *GNVQ, BTEC in health or health and social care (*required to complete care certificate if not already achieved) (Essential for Band 2 HCA, but training may be offered see below)
  • Care Certificate (Essential for band 2 HCA, but training may be offered see below**)
  • English equivalent to a minimum of level 2 on the National Qualification Framework
  • Numeracy skills equivalent to level 2 on the National Qualification Framework

Experience

Essential

  • Care work in a care home, community care or hospital setting or experience of working in a customer service setting
