Job summary

Our Trust are expanding our Psychological Therapies service for the patients whose chronic pain problems indicate the need for a spinal cord stimulator as part of their ongoing care. We are looking for a Psychological Therapist with expertise in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Chronic Pain who is also interested in developing skills in ACT. The successful candidate will take a leadership role within the psychological part of the service, supervise other therapists when appropriate and work into the wider network of clinicians in the district. The successful candidate will be able to develop skills in service development and evaluation and in working across cultures and with marginalised patients struggling with multiple disadvantages.

This service will provide evidence-based therapy to patients who are experiencing chronic pain and are under the care of an anaesthetist who is considering implementing a spinal cord stimulator. The post also involves time for leadership, supervision and training within the pain service as well as time for service development. The successful candidate will be supported to develop consultation skills so that they are able to provide input to MDTs across the hospital and in community settings. This role will be part of the psychological therapies for persistent pain team.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a large and supportive team of psychological therapists working across the age range in a wide variety of settings. The post is open to BABCP accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapists or Clinical, Health or Counselling Psychologists who are able to apply for and gain BABCP accreditation in the first year of the job. Supervision and CPD will be available to support the accreditation process as well as access to training to support your development as a supervisor, leader and therapist.
