An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced health care support worker to join our fantastic team.
The Children's Continuing care team is a service within the Bradford District concerned with supporting families with children who have complex health needs. The health care support workers within the team are responsible for providing an excellent level of professional care to these children allowing families respite time. This is a highly skilled role and the successful applicant will work independently in the child's home or other selected areas.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be trustworthy and professional and have the ability to use available resources to provide a consistent and safe service to the children and families of the Bradford District.
Main duties of the job
To come and join our team you will need to have a sound knowledge of the management of complex health needs, life limiting conditions, including, but not exclusively experience of non-invasive ventilation and tracheostomy care.
The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously and take on new challenges. Safety will always be one of the priorities of the successful candidate and knowledge of one's own limitations is essential.
An extensive training and development package will be provided to ensure you are both competent and confident in supporting children within their own home environment.
The successful applicant will have a positive attitude towards their work and be well subscribed to the Bradford Teaching Hospitals corporate trust values.
An opportunity to undertake further learning alongside the role to complete Level 3 NVQ if needed is available 1 day a week within the trust, to ensure the candidate is fully qualified to do this role.
Whilst undertaking the NVQ level 3, you would be a trainee band 4, salary will be paid at 75% of band 4 agenda for change. Upon completion salary will be adjusted to Band 4 agenda for change.
A current full UK/ EU driving Licence is essential in addition to access to a vehicle to carry out duties and attend meetings at multiple sites (reasonable adjustments will be considered).

The post holder will be part of the Childrens Community Nursing Service working in childrens homes; respite centres & education settings.
The post holder will care for children with complex needs/ additional needs and life limiting conditions, such as children who have are dependant on a ventilator; have a tracheostomy; an unstable airway/ unstable condition; have complex seizures; are oxygen dependant; fed by enteral feeding methods such as a gastrostomy tube; have a stoma or a terminal illness, thus offering respite to families.
Working without direct supervision and undertaking interventions for which they are deemed competent, they will be responsible for implementing and maintaining high standards of health care, as planned and directed by registered nursing staff.
The service is required over a 24 hour period across Bradford and Airedale District: therefore flexible working is an essential part of this role.
It is expected that the post holder will cover the needs of the 24 hour service, over 365 days a year. This includes shift work, nights, weekends & bank holidays, across the Bradford and Airedale District: therefore flexible working is an essential part of this role.
