Band 7 - Gynaecology unit manager
Gynaecology Services
We are seeking to appoint a proactive, dynamic motivated nurse who has management experience and an interest in women's health, for our Gynaecology assessment and treatment unit & women's health unit.
GATU comprises of 7 short stay inpatient beds, a fast paced 24 hour acute assessment area for a vast range of gynaecological complications and a busy early pregnancy assessment unit (EPAU). The women's health unit provides outpatient Gynaecology care for a vast range of services, such as colposcopy, hysteroscopy, urogynae and the lilac clinic termination service.
The unit manager will focus on high standards of care and nurture staff to enable them to achieve their potential which will increase quality and safety, across both services. They will work with the matron to implement change and develop services for the future.
Main duties of the job
To provide positive leadership to the ward nursing team supporting them to fulfil their roles, empowering them to improve standards set by the NMC and the organisational personal responsibility framework.
To provide specialist nursing care and support the care provision for patients after gynaecological surgery and acute admissions including Early Pregnancy Assessment unit patients and medical patients.
To play a key strategic role in influencing and developing evidence based practice to provide holistic, supportive and co-ordinated care for patients during their in-patient and attendance in the service. To act as a role model and mentor establishing a positive learning environment where staff can develop their full potential. To work in conjunction with the matron to implement key service recommendations.
