Clinical Scientist/Physiologist - Cardiac Imaging lead - Echo
Are you an innovative and dynamic cardiac scientist looking for a new challenge? We are looking for someone with a passion for echocardiography who can lead the imaging service, including the planned development of non-medical led imaging services.
Working with nine Cardiologists and three PECs, the department provides a wide range of cardiac and respiratory investigations including cardiac catheterisation, PCI, pacemaker and ICD implant and follow up, CPET, as well as transthoracic, trans-oesophageal, paediatric and stress Echocardiography. All of our echo machines are less than two years old. We are part way through the implementation of a large dedicated IT system which will pull together all the clinical and administrative systems across the cardiology department. We are planning new scientist led services such as valve surveillance clinics and exercise stress echo - we would be keen for the new team member to lead on those projects. It's a really exciting time to be part of our team!
The post holder will coordinate the imaging team, as well as having dedicated clinical sessions. You'll work collaboratively within cardiology and contribute to the wider service improvement plans. We are a NSHCS accredited training centre, we aim to be a BSE accredited department within the next 1 to 2 years, and to apply for IQIPS accreditation within 3 years.

We are currently supporting staff to undertake MSc level clinical qualifications as well as providing mentorship and support to those applying for registration as a Clinical Scientist. We hope to support staff through the HSST programme in the future. We have a dedicated training budget which allows staff to attend national and international educational events.
We are looking for someone who is keen to develop their colleagues as well as themselves, and so the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leadership, mentoring, teaching and developing junior staff and students. You should have experience of the ETP or STP programmes. You will need to be an AHCS registered practitioner or HCPC registered Clinical Scientist, with a relevant master's level qualification. This post is suited to a Registered Clinical Scientist however consideration will be given to those currently part way through the AHCS equivalence process.
