Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and motivated individual to join the Trust in the role as Lead Cancer Nurse, leading the strategic Cancer Nursing agenda. Working as a key lead member of the Cancer Lead team you will provide Trust wide professional leadership and support for cancer nursing for the cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists committed to improving patient/client experience, improving standards of care and advancing the cancer strategy.
The post holder will lead, implement and monitor progress on the delivery of strategic objectives to ensure the provision of safe high quality, patient and family centred services, providing professional nursing advice and actively contributing to innovative solutions to quality improvements for our patients, carers, public, staff and other health care professionals.
Providing senior leadership for cancer nursing you will work collaboratively with the Clinical Service Units representatives, Deputy and Directors of Nursing, specialty cancer clinical nurse specialists, Lead Cancer Clinicians, Personalised Care Lead Cancer, Allied Health Professionals within the Organisation and West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance , primary care, and the voluntary sector to ensure the effective delivery of the cancer strategy and quality surveillance review to improve the quality and experience of health provision for our patients and families throughout their cancer care pathway.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected to:
- Work across Trust within specialty Clinical Service Units, promoting the integration of cancer services, streamline processes, optimise communication and education, as well as promote service improvement and redesign, alongside local and national priorities and supporting the Trust in developing and delivering high quality cancer services.
- Adhere to Trust policies and procedures and relevant legislation including the requirements of any professional bodies;
- Undertake mandatory training as identified by the
- Be fully conversant with the NMC Code of Conduct and associated guidelines and abide by the guidance
- Participate in an annual appraisal and personal development review
- Maintain knowledge and skills by attending local and national conferences training and study courses
