Job summary
Bradford Teaching Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated sonographer with a special interest in obstetric ultrasound, to join our friendly team. As part of the radiology management and leadership team, the successful applicant will work closely within the CSU to provide high quality obstetric care to the Bradford community.
They will liaise with the antenatal and screening teams, to ensure National guidelines are followed and targets met, working towards providing an improved, safe antenatal service to patients.
They will have the opportunity to develop and advance their own clinical practice and leadership skills in our busy, dynamic department where self-development and CPD is paramount.
Summary of Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:
PGDip in medical ultrasound to include obstetrics, DMU, or PGCert in obstetrics
Competent and experienced in scanning and reporting in obstetric ultrasound
HCPC /NMC registration

Main duties of the job
The early pregnancy unit is based in the main BRI building and we provide an ultrasound service for the unit 7 days per week.
As obstetric lead sonographer you will have the responsibility for the daily operation of these services.
You will provide support to the other members of the obstetric ultrasound team and will be involved in staff appraisals.
You will help with staff development and lead on new initiatives including saving babies lives version 3, improving the patient experience and quality of service, supporting staff through these changes.
Attendance and involvement in the weekly fetal medicine MDT and three monthly fetal governance meeting is expected.
As an experienced obstetric sonographer you will work clinically for approximately 50% of your working week, maintaining your clinical skills.
You will mentor and teach newly qualified sonographers and trainees, midwives and obstetricians.
You will lead on audit projects within your specialised area, ensuring protocols are followed and a high quality service maintained.
You will work closely with the superintendent radiographer for ultrasound, and the radiology management and leadership team.
You will be expected to know trust policies ensuring they are followed, including infection control.
You will need to have an understanding of department and trust wide I.T. systems including CRIS and viewpoint.
You will be involved in research projects as required.
