Job summary
We are looking for a positive and responsible person who is capable of working as part of a team and is flexible regarding working practices and changes in routine, in order to maintain the Pharmacy service to wards and departments in the Trust and to external customers.
Good communication skills are important as the role involves dealing with colleagues within the department, other health care professionals and external customers.
The post involves rotational duties which include distribution of medicines, ward top-up of pharmacy items, general storekeeping and assisting dispensary staff. This post will also provide admin support to both the Pharmacy Stores Office and Pharmacy Stores. There is a significant amount of lifting and handling in this role.
You will play a key role in the provision of specialist Technical Pharmacy Services helping us to deliver and improve the quality of patient care.
Main duties of the job
Key elements of the role are:
- Picking & Packing orders in Pharmacy Stores
- Checking & receipting deliveries to Pharmacy Stores
- Filing delivery notes
- Delivering medication to wards and other departments
- Receiving BOC gas deliveries
- Issuing stock on the computer system
- Topping up wards
- Pharmacy Van Driver for delivery to external customers
The post involves working on weekend and bank holiday rotas in Pharmacy Stores.
Summary of most important experience / skills / qualifications required:
- Level 2 Diploma in Pharmacy Services (NVQ) or equivalent or willing to work towards - or significant experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Driving License (reasonable adjustments will be considered)
