An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Midwife to work alongside the Band 7 Specialist Midwife for Quality Practice to support and participate in the established Bradford Birth Matters Service. The role is an excellent developmental opportunity for a confident, compassionate midwife to facilitate trauma informed reflective discussions and support women and birthing people with their informed decision making and personalised care planning.

Main duties of the job
To support and facilitate the Birth Matters Service; provide an opportunity for women and birthing people to have additional support with informed decision making and/or reflect on their maternity experience for their understanding and processing of care and events.
To ensure women and birthing people are signposted and/or referred to other services or healthcare professionals as appropriate.
Support and enhance women and birthing peoples' experience through implementing evidence-based care practices and recommendations from the national maternity agenda. Ensure communication with the multidisciplinary team is maintained by taking an active role in plans of care and outcome-based evaluation and learning is shared with all staff.

To support and deputise for the Specialist Midwife for Quality Practice by facilitating the Birth Matters Service appointments in a clinic, via telephone or a virtual setting depending on the request and the individual needs of the woman and birthing person.
Act as an advocate for the woman and birthing person. Communicate, represent and negotiate their values, wishes and informed decisions in relation to their care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Ensure women, birthing people and their partners attending the Birth Matters Service have a trauma informed reflective discussion that is based on their personal needs to support understanding and processing of their maternity experience; address any concerns or questions they may have and plans for a future pregnancy and birth.
Ensure the individual needs of women and birthing people in relation to informational, safeguarding, overall physical and mental health are appropriately identified and they are signposted and/or referred to an additional or alternative service or healthcare professional.
Identify and share themes to the multidisciplinary maternity team through evaluation of best practice, outcomes and feedback from the service users.
