Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated Medical Secretary to join the Rheumatology Services Team.
The post is primarily based at the St Luke's Hospital Site but the post holder may at times be expected to provide cross cover to the other secretarial teams in the directorate which covers both the St Luke's Hospital and Bradford Royal Infirmary Site.
For the Band 3 Medical Secretary role you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and be responsible for a range of duties related to patient pathway management, including; diary management, audio transcription and word processing of clinical letters, production of reports including managing outpatient and inpatient waiting lists and assisting with data quality corrections as required.
You should be literate and numerate, with excellent organisational, time management and an ability to work without supervision and to tight deadlines and under pressure.
IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft packages are essential.
Main duties of the job
Medical secretarial experience is desirable but not essential but you should have a secretarial & administrative background including dealing with the general public on a face to face basis and by telephone often around sensitive issues.
A high standard of communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels is essential to this post along with a strong team ethic; you must have enthusiasm, motivation and demonstrate pride in your work. A good knowledge of the NHS would be also be advantageous
