An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 enhanced recovery nurses to become part of the team in the elective surgical pathway. The role is challenging, but exciting and rewarding.
This role will be mainly clinical working as part of the team to embed and promote enhanced recovery pathways for multiple specialties including General Surgery, Urology, Gynecology & Head and neck surgery
The enhanced recovery nurse role focuses on the recovery of patients following surgery and attempts to ensure the delivery of evidence-based care. This can improve the patient experience, improve clinical outcomes, and reduce the demand on inpatient beds by reducing length of stay.
There are 4 elements to enhanced recovery and if you are successful in your application you will work with the clinicians and wider teams to cover all elements as below
- Pre operative assessment, planning and preparation before admission.
- Reducing the physical stress of the operation
- Structured approach to immediate post operative and peri operative management
- Early mobilisation
Main duties of the job
This job has been designed to enable a nurse to support and assist in reimplementation of the enhanced recovery programme for multiple specialties. It will involve direct patient contact, working alongside clinical teams, education, data collection and excellent communication skills.
Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:
Registered Nurse with minimum 2 years surgical experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage time and own workload
Ability to work within a team
