37.5 HOURS PER WEEK - 5 days a week + occasional shift cover duties

Brief Description of the Role:

You will need to work closely with the Team Leaders to plan and carry out engineering/building maintenance programmes and to help achieve compliance with legislative and performance standards. You will be required to undertake work as identified on allocated work orders, such as carrying out inspections, tests, repairs and installations on Trust property, plant and infrastructure.

Heavily involved in the day-to-reactive maintenance service, you will need to ensure that we are providing an efficient and patient focused service to the Trust. You will need to possess strong team working traits, be flexible, calm under pressure and have excellent communication skills to effectively carry out demanding maintenance duties and investigative processes.

As part of the role you will be required to cover the shift technicians role should unplanned staff shortages occur during times of operational service pressure.

Main duties of the job

It is anticipated that the post holder will hold the following qualifications and skills:

Must have completed a recognised electrical, plumbing or mechanical apprenticeship such as EITB, CITB or similar, approved apprenticeship scheme

  • City & Guilds - Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Must have completed an appropriate multi-skilling course to City & Guilds level or equivalent, or must have appropriate multi-skilling experience.
  • Undertake training to become a Competent/Authorised Person in engineering systems as required.
  • Be Flexible and willing.
  • Willing to undertake training to fulfil the requirements of the post.
  • Good communication, computer (MS office) and customer care skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative
