A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Academic Unit for Ageing and Stroke Research (ASR) for a Senior Research Fellow to join a new research programme investigating inequalities in overprescribing of medications for older people with severe frailty and care home residents. Working with internationally renowned experts from the University of Leeds, Bradford Institute for Health Research, University of Bradford, University of Liverpool and University College London, the post holder will take a leading role in overseeing delivery of the qualitative work packages of the research. Funded by the National Institute for Health Research Health and Social Care Delivery Research Programme, the research is closely aligned with current NHS policy in this area and will aim to directly inform national policy and practice relating to medicines optimisation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of this programme. The post holder will be involved in setting up the research programme and will assume day-to-day responsibility for project management activities. The post holder will also lead in undertaking qualitative research for the programme (conducting observations, interviews and running workshops as required).

Other responsibilities will include public engagement activities, data management and analysis, and providing regular progress reports.

The successful candidate will have a post-graduate degree or equivalent experience/qualification in a health or health research related subject, have experience in leading projects, and considerable experience in undertaking and analysing qualitative research. Experience or understanding of co-design approaches is desired.

There is an expectation that the post holder will be prepared to work flexibly and travel as required within the UK.
