Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Sister/Charge Nurse for our busy 24 bedded, Elderly Medical Unit, based at Bradford Royal infirmary.

The Elderly and Intermediate Care Service in Bradford strives to provide safe, high-quality care to the older population of the region, and is a leader in the development of safe alternatives to acute care. .We offer a consultant-led service for people over the age of 77 (or sometimes those over 65 from care facilities, depending on clinical need), who are acutely unwell.

Our Elderly Medical Assessment Unit is based on Ward 3 and takes referrals both from AED and GP's. Here patients are admitted and assessed and usually within 24 hours are Discharged home, transferred to our downstream wards or Intermediate Care wards. We also have a Virtual ward which facilitates early discharge from hospital using the discharge to assess model of care.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be dynamic, hardworking, exhibit excellent standards in communication and will be expected to lead and deliver high quality evidence based care. They will possess the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with AED, downstream wards, intermediate Care and the discharge team.

The post holder must be able to act as a strong role model and be able to support and lead a team of nursing staff.

The post holder will be supported in their professional development and will have the opportunity to develop in leadership and management.
