This important role is based within the new National Institute for Heath and Care Research (NIHR) Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Research Collaboration (PSRC). The vision of the PSRC is to deliver research that makes healthcare safer for all.
Your role will be to support the development of a more inclusive research culture. You will guide our work, ensuring that diverse members of the public, patients, and health and social care staff are embedded in the work we do. This might involve considering:
- ow to recruit a more diverse patient population to our research studies.
- How to ensure interventions/strategies benefit people from all communities equally.
- How to promote a culture of inclusivity within the research team.
You will also work with other team members to engage with diverse communities and consider research priorities in quality and safety research.
The post-holder will build on existing work and shape and create new connections and exciting opportunities for the PSRC. In doing so, there will be opportunities for you to use and build on your existing networks or connections and expand your skills. The PSRC in one of six such research collaborations in England, and you will work with colleagues nationally to share learning and develop joint projects.
Main duties of the job
You will join a caring and motivated team that is committed to delivering inclusive research to inform improvements in the quality and experience of healthcare services. To support this, we are actively working towards a more inclusive and equitable approach within our research community and our projects.
The PSRC is hosted within a wider research network: the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research group https://yqsr.org. The group comprises researchers and leading academics from the Universities of Leeds, York and Bradford, teamed with clinicians and managers from the Yorkshire and Humber health community, with the ultimate aim of making a real impact on the safety of health and social care services. This means that within your role you will have the opportunity to collaborate with and be a part of a large, multi-disciplinary team.
