Job summary

We have a post available within our small and supportive Improvement Science team of the NIHR Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration (NIHR YHARC). The YHARC is one of 15 ARCs across the country. ARCs foster collaboration between NHS, social care, third sector and industry organisations, and leading universities. The aim is to transform services, improve peoples' health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities. Our research team is all about improving the quality and safety of health and social care services. We work with the other themes within the NIHR YHARC: older people, healthy childhood, mental health and urgent care to support them to deliver work that addresses barriers to implementation. We also have an objective to develop the science of improvement across our projects, working with other ARCs to do so.

You will join our team, which sits within a wider research network: the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research group . This successful group of researchers has established a national and international reputation for working collaboratively across institutions and disciplines to deliver research that makes healthcare safer. The group comprises researchers and leading academics from the Universities of Leeds, York and Bradford teamed with clinicians and managers from the Yorkshire and Humber health community, with the ultimate aim of making a real impact on the way health services are delivered. .

Main duties of the job

Examples of our current projects and activities include:

  • A scoping review of the benefits for health care staff of involvement in applied health services research.
  • A qualitative study exploring transfer of care decisions between care homes and emergency care departments.
