if so this is an exciting opportunity to lead our newly invigorated energy management function within Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

Join us as our Energy and Decarbonation Manager, developing the Trusts energy strategies and being part of the NHS Green Plan and Net Zero agenda

Main duties of the job

This role requires you to be an innovator in relation to energy and decarbonisation strategy, as well as a highly effective communicator, with a strong understanding of BMS management and strategy, energy initiatives, and the relevant contractual, statutory legislative requirements relative to energy and decarbonisation.

A confident and experienced professional who is driven by the notion of excellence in compliance, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. You will take responsibility for leading the Trust's energy and decarbonisation strategy and shaping the strategic and operational approach, including engineering mindset, in this area.

Job responsibilities

Development and delivery of the Trusts energy strategy and policy

Development of long-term sustainable efficiency initiatives to reduce energy consumption and reduce CO2

Development and implementation of behavioural change initiatives to improve awareness and reduce energy usage

Management of energy and utility contracts including the Trusts Energy Centres and combined heat and power plant

Monitor, record and approve utility contract spend for each Trust site

Working with Procurement and the Capital Programme Delivery team to ensure projects and purchases give energy and utility consumption appropriate consideration

Develop and implement on-going cost improvement initiatives

Preparation of associated energy budgets, forecasts and compiling regular complex senior management and board level reports

  • Thorough knowledge of energy management techniques and technology equivalent to Master's degree level
  • Degree in business/management /Technical subject or equivalent
  • Evidence of relevant Continued Professional Development

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification
  • Management/leadership qualification/experience

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience working in a similar role at a senior level
  • Demonstrable experience procuring and managing multi-million-pound utility budgets
  • Successful implementation of change management
  • Demonstrable track record of meeting performance targets
  • Proficient in TREND BEMS or similar

Desirable

  • Evidence of specialist complex technical knowledge and experience with respect to healthcare engineering systems
  • Working knowledge of all NHS technical guidance such as HTM's and HBN's specifically HTM 07-02

Specific Skills

  • Enthusiastic about energy and decarbonisation
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office software packages
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure
