Job summary

Ella Rowcroft ward & HCU at Torbay Hospital is currently looking to appoint a band 2 ward clerk. We are looking for a caring and motivated individual to join our multidisciplinary team.

You will need to show commitment, have good communication skills and be an organised individual.

Main duties of the job

  • To act with professionalism and integrity, being a role model to those around us and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity
  • To provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and to understand what our patients/customers need and be adaptable and responsive
  • To provide a high-quality customer service which complies with relevant legislation and NHS Employment check standards
  • To be honest and learn from mistakes, and help to create a "no-blame" culture were people feel able to share and learn from experiences together
  • To work as part of a team demonstrating effective communication, and working collaboratively with colleagues inside and out of the department
  • Acknowledge that you need to continually deliver greater value to customers
  • Order and prep notes for people coming in for the planned procedures. Answering the phone and face to face enquiries.

Job responsibilities

  • Ensure that all patient records and investigation results are available when required by the nursing and medical staff Accurately record admissions, transfers and discharges on Swift plus and PAS, ensuring pathways are correct Responsible for all patient notes within the ward, ensuring drug charts, CTGs and other loose filing are filed appropriately and securely Liaise with other departments and wards re beds and patientmanagement as required Order and prep notes for those attending for planned procedures
  • Dealing with face to face and over the phone enquiries, in a professional manner and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Assisting staff with daily activities for example booking transport, emailing referrals.
