Our Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) is a busy, friendly Level 1 neonatal unit providing high-quality, family-centred care to babies and their families at the very start of their neonatal journey. The unit comprises 10 cots, including:
We care for babies from 32 weeks gestation, provide stabilisation for more premature or critically unwell term neonates, and work closely with the Peninsula Neonatal Transport Team. As part of the Southwest Neonatal Network, we offer excellent exposure to wider neonatal pathways and best practice.
Main duties of the job

Provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to neonates requiringspecial care, high dependency, or intensive care.

Undertake comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.

Monitor and record infants' clinical condition, including vital signs, feeding tolerance, respiratory support, and developmental progress, escalating concerns appropriately.

You will work within a supportive and friendly team where the neonate and their family are central to all aspects of care. The unitoperatesan 11.5-hour shift pattern covering days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
