Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated full time Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist .

This post will be within the Early Child Development (ECD) Pathway. The Pathway helps infants and young children aged under 5 in Devon (excluding Plymouth) with significant developmental delay or differences in multiple areas of their development. You will work in a Multidisciplinary team of CFHD specialists including

  • Clinical Psychologists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Early Years Practitioners
  • Paediatricians

Speech and Language Therapy is well established in the ECD team, with a high number of Speech and Language Therapists at a Band 6 and Band 7 level to support and supervise you in your development. We provide multi disciplinary assessment and intervention support in line with the Thrive model for pre school age children (pre starting Reception) presenting with significant developmental delay in at least two or more areas. This must include cognition, play and communication.

Main duties of the job

The ECD pathway is Countywide and covers Devon and Torbay. This post will have a base in Exeter.

Everyone in the team is provided with regular supervision, opportunities for training and development.

Main duties will be:

o The provision of a speech and language therapy service of assessment, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of speech, language and communication, as part of the MDT.o To provide appropriate communication intervention and evaluate outcomes.o To provide advice and training to parents and carers, early years and school staff and other professionals on matters relating to the speech, language and communication needs of individual children and young people.o To set up and monitor programmes to be carried out by other key workers.o To write reports reflecting specialist knowledge, and discuss your assessment and intervention within MDT meetings
