Lead Technician Education and Training Aseptic Services

Job summary

An excellent opportunity is available, leading Education and Training, for a suitably qualified and motivated person with proven aseptic services experience to join our small, supportive and friendly team.

This key role involves developing, coordinating and delivering high quality training to the staff working in our Aseptic Services Unit in Torbay Hospital. You will work to maintain high standards of aseptic practice, support competency based learning and ensure all relevant staff meet the standards required for their job role. You will also participate in the cleanroom rota as an isolator operator.

Main duties of the job

  • Participate in and co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of Pharmacy Aseptic Services to ensuretimelyprovision of chemotherapy, PN and other items toservice users. Participate in the isolator operator rota.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and implement all relevant training and competency assessments, atappropriate intervalsforPharmacy Technicians,Science ManufacturingTechniciansandtrainee Science Manufacturing Techniciansin Aseptic Services.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and implement the training and re-validation of other staff including Senior Pharmacy Services Assistants and Pharmacy Services Assistants within Pharmacy Aseptic Services.
  • Participate in the pre and/or in-process accuracy checking of aseptically prepared items under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Act as Deputy to the Lead Technician providing leadership to the aseptic services team in their absence.
  • Provide input into the departmental Quality Management System and carry out Internal Audit asrequired.

Essential

  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council as a practicing Pharmacy Technician . NVQ Level 3 and BTEC in Pharmacy Services or Science Manufacturing Technician.
  • Relevant knowledge of aseptic services, aseptic dispensing and techniques, GMP and QA acquired through training, experience and knowledge.

Desirable

  • Specialised checking skills in Pharmacy Aseptic Services

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • A very good understanding of the relevant regulatory frameworks and standards relating to Aseptic Dispensing .i.e. Current edition of Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services and the guide to Good Manufacturing Practice (the Orange Guide).
  • Competent in all aspects of the Aseptic Dispensing process so that training of aseptic unit staff can be undertaken to the correct standards.

Desirable

  • Experience of assessing the work of others, feeding back appropriately and ensuring staff are working within defined SOPs.
