Job responsibilities

• A professional qualification at degree level or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
• Additional specialist training and qualification to post graduate diploma level or equivalent in supervision and/or leadership skills.
• Knowledge of the provision of healthcare for children, young people and families within the NHS.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, NHS policy and other national policy relating to children and young people and its implications for area of specialty.
• Specialist skill in the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, highly complex, technical and/or clinically sensitive information to children/young people and families, carers and other professionalcolleagues both within and outside the service, adapting your approach according to the individual needs of the audience.
• The ability to form and maintain good working relationships with others in multidisciplinary and inter-agency settings.
• Daily operation of IT equipment.
• Ability to travel across Devon.
• Proactive, energetic, enthusiastic, able to inspire and motivate others.Self-motivated, confident, reflective.
• Standing/sitting with limited scope for movement for long periods; Frequently. Clinical work with service users.

Qualifications

Essential

• oA professional qualification at degree level or equivalent e.g Occupational Therapy, or equivalent
• oAdditional specialist training and qualification to post graduate diploma level or equivalent in supervision and/or leadership skills
• oProfessional registration/accreditation with a recognised body, e.g. HCPC
• oEvidence of relevant CPD

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• oKnowledge of the provision of healthcare for children, young people and families within the NHS
• oThe ability to form and maintain good working relationships with others in multidisciplinary and inter-agency settings
• oSound knowledge of health presentations in children and young people and the practice of clinical interventions within area of specialty
• oKnowledge of evidence-based practice including NICE guidelines and routine outcome monitoring relating to the designated pathway
• oKnowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety within area of specialty
• oKnowledge of supervision, management and leadership practice, including electronic staff record systems
• oUnderstanding of the quality, governance and regulatory framework within the NHS. Understanding of the multi-agency systems providing health, education and social care for children and young people
• oWorking knowledge of legislation, regulation, policy, guidance and practice relating to safeguarding children

• oExperience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice
• oExperience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies. Experience of delivering a clinical practice within the area of specialty for children with complex health conditions - undertaking specialist assessment and treatment interventions for children and young people with complex health problems; including risk assessment
• oExperience of supervising others and developing positive supervisory relationships with healthcare professionals
• oExperience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate
• oExperience of delivering healthcare within an equalities and human rights framework
• oExperience of initiating, organising and planning inter-agency meetings aimed at setting in place a treatment package tailored to the individual needs of a child/young person
• oExperience in involving service users as active partners in the delivery and or design of services
• oExperience in delivering healthcare in partnership with other organisations

• oKnowledge and experience of gaining meaningful feedback from children, young people and families' voice and inform meaningful change
