An exciting career development opportunity has arisen for a Pain Rehabilitation Team Lead Physiotherapist to join the team at Ashburton Health and Wellbeing Centre.

This role would be ideally suited to an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 clinician seeking to develop their leadership and management skills in a supportive environment, while helping to shape the future of Pain Rehabilitation within TSDFT.

About the Role
  • Deliver a high standard of pain rehabilitation services to people referred to PRT outpatient clinics across South Devon.

  • Referral pathways include:

    • Up to 50% of patients self-referring

    • Around 16% referred from pain clinics

  • Provide operational management to a multi-professional team, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and physical activity specialist staff (both registered and non-registered).

  • Balance responsibilities with approximately:

    • 75% clinical caseload management

    • 25% operational management and leadership duties

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

o To use advanced psychologically informed (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) neuro-musculoskeletal assessments to create individualised treatment plans, using a holistic approach to deliver patient centred care. Providing an equitable service across the Trust in line with evidence-based practice.

o To provide the highest quality of care by listening to and acting on feedback from both patients and colleagues. By taking personal responsibility for service improvement, by implementing change positively and contributing to team/MDT discussions in a constructive and flexible way. To ensure staff supervision and CPD are an explicit part of the team's ethos.

o To strive to provide excellent, innovative services that helps our population to live their lives to the full. Take every opportunity to encourage and support individuals to improve their own health and wellbeing.

o To act as a source of expertise on the assessment and management of chronic pain conditions.

o To educate and train physiotherapists, students, and other healthcare professionals in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) management of chronic pain conditions. To provide a high standard of service to Pain Rehabilitation Team patients presenting with chronic pain conditions. To be part of the team contributing to leading the Pain Rehabilitation service across the Torbay and South Devon area.

  • Training / experience in staff appraisal

Desirable

  • qualifications in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Middle management course e.g. ILM Level 3

Knowledge & Experience

  • Previous experience of implementing service improvements
  • Previous operational management experience
  • Knowledge of the relevant NSFs and clinical guidelines, and experience of implementing these recommendations in practice

  • Advanced working knowledge of a broad range of musculoskeletal/rheumatological and chronic pain conditions
