We'reoffering an exciting opportunity to start your journeytobecomea registered nurse,through aninnovative 3 yearpre-registration nursing degree programme.This full time, blended learning course delivers all teaching and assessment online, giving you the flexibility to study while completing hands-on practice placements with us.

You will be based within the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust footprint and will experiencea variety ofclinical placements,allowing you to gainanappreciation of many health and care contexts.Onsuccessful completion of allprogrammeand placement requirements, you will be eligible to apply to join the NMC Register asRegisteredNurse (Adult)or Registered Nurse (Children and Young People).

If you have completed priorhealthcaretraining,for example asan Assistant Practitioner,relevantFdScor Nursing Associate training,you couldtransfer some of your learningand complete anacceleratedprogramme- this will be discussed atinterview.

Main duties of the job

  • Effectively balance academic, placement, and role demands through strong time management and organisational skills.

  • Deliver safe, person-centred care under supervision, adhering to health and safety legislation and organisational policies.

  • Work within the scopeof practiceof a student nurse,maintainingaccountability and practising within professional boundaries.

  • Collaboratewith Practice Assessorsto set and achieve SMARTobjectivesfor personal and professional development.

  • Promote equality, value diversity, and raise concerns appropriately to ensure patient safety and professional standards.

How you'll learn over the 3 year course:

You'llbe enrolled as an Open University (OU) student and linked with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust for placements,with theory sessions being taught online byTheOU.

Students will complete 3 blocks of placement per year;the dates and durations of these placements will be discussed at interview stage.

You must commit to both academic study and placements throughout the course.
