Job summary
We have recently opened a brand-new Endoscopy facility, a £4.9m investment with a South West Endoscopy Training Academy facility also built.
You will be identified as a clinical expert and is required to have a high clinical profile ensuring the provision of effective and efficient care, including the management of a caseload of patients. They are expected to work as a highly skilled practitioner and to have expert knowledge. They will provide clinical expertise, leadership and guidance within the endoscopy service.
The primary focus of the role is to work as an advanced, autonomous practitioner providing patient centred clinical care, encompassing the skills of assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment of patients. The post holder will be an accredited Independent Nurse Endoscopist in Upper and/or Lower GI procedures. The post is intended to provide improved outcomes for patients by improving timeliness and consistency of care and driving innovation through new models of care and actively participating in research and development.
Be expected to exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and make critical judgements to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role, within a defined framework.
Main duties of the job
- The ACP role is service driven and structured around the Health Education England framework for advanced clinical practice. There are 4 pillars that underpin this practice
- Clinical Practice: At least 60% of work time is spent on direct patient care.The postholder must be able to deliver high quality care to patients, enable other practitioners to maintain professional expertise and be able to exercise a high degree of personal autonomy within their role
- Professional leadership and management. The postholder should be able to demonstrate leadership skills which will support and motivate others in order to continuously improve quality of care and standards of practice. They should be a source of expertise and knowledge for others in their specialist fields.
- Education, training and development. The postholder should be able to contribute to the training and education of others, establishing formal links with local education providers. They should also contribute to the development of registered nurses/ AHPs within their specialist fields.
- Research: The postholder should contribute to the development of professional practice, through the promotion of evidence -based practice and audit of standards of care. They should also have a role within research within their specialist fields.
