Are you a former UK Registered Nurse looking to Return to Practice and re-join the professional register? We are offering an exciting employment opportunity for you to undertake a Return to Practice Programme atTorbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.

Our Return to Practice Programme, offered in collaboration with the University of Plymouth, delivers comprehensive training, mentorship, and support. Upon successful completion of the programme and re-registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) you will be eligible to apply for Band 5 Registered Nurse vacancies within the Trust.

Whilst training and working towards regaining your registration with the NMC, you will be employed on a fixed term contract as a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker in your placement area. This contract duration is in line with the completion of 200 clinical placement hours. Please note that at the end of this contract, there is no guarantee you will be made permanent in post.Key dates:

  • You will complete a 2 week clinical induction which will prepare you for re-entering the clinical workforce.
  • Your 2 week clinical induction will commence on the 6th October 2025, with the view your placement will commence on the 20th October 2025. Academic timelines will be provided closer to the time.
  • Interviews for this programme will be held on 6th August, 2025 at Horizon Centre, Torbay Hospital, TQ2 7AA

Main duties of the job

  • Contribute to holistic, person centred assessment and care, under supervisionof a Registered professional
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team, providing clear verbal, digital or written information
  • Communicate effectively across a range of channels and with a wide range of individuals, the public, health and social care professionals, maintaining the focus of communication on delivering and improving health and care services
  • Follow treatment plans determined by the registered care professional
  • Identify risks to safety or experience and take appropriate action, putting the best interests, needs and preferences of people first.

Successful candidates will be appointed to a fixed-term contract at AfC Band 3 to support the completion of 200 clinical placement hours. This contract will have a maximum duration of six months, and the cost of the University programme will be fully covered by the NHS.
