An exciting opportunity has arisen for an offloading podiatrist to join the team.
We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual working at Band 7 to provideclinical leadership in developing and providing a specialist offloading podiatry service and play a key role in helping reduce active and future foot ulcerations by active offloading, prevention and reablement across the Torbay and South Devon Health Community.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the management of a caseload of patients including providing a comprehensive range of specialist interventions. These would include holistic assessment (including musculoskeletal (MSK) and wound assessments).
Prescribe a variety of devices including non-removal and removal casts, functional casted, total contact and pre-formed orthoses and manufacture bespoke foot orthoses. To use a range of casting techniques and methods of cast modification along with a sound knowledge of appropriate manufacturing materials for orthotic fabrication. manufacture of foot orthoses, enhanced patient specific reablement, multidisciplinary working and other therapeutic interventions.
o To work as a confident clinical specialist, demonstrating highly specialist knowledge, skills and expertise and advising colleagues on the assessment, diagnosis and management of lower limb conditions requiring advanced offloading.
Provide professional clinical leadership for all staff, thus ensuring standards of clinical expertise and excellence in offloading podiatry are continually maintained and improved.
Liaise with both Primary and Secondary Care professionals in ensuring seamless delivery of care to the high risk and active foot patient.
To provide podiatry services in a variety of clinical settings and, including hospitals, health centres, clinics and domiciliary settings.

The Podiatry Department works from 11 different locations across the Torbay and South Devon Area and consists of 45 clinical staff comprising of Head of Service, Team Leads, Specialist podiatrists, podiatrists, assistant practitioners and clinical support staff . We also have 10 administrative staff.

To maintain Registration with Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and degree/diploma in Podiatry and local analgesia administration certificate
To follow departmental Policies, Procedures and Guidelines but have the discretion to make own clinical diagnosis and decisions within professional boundaries
To attend all mandatory training sessions as required by the Trust
Maintain accurate clinical records of all patient consultations and related work carried out at each clinical session in accordance with Professional Standards and Trust policy
