Job summary
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit an Arrhythmia nurse to join their well-established Arrhythmia Team. The post holder will help deliver a patient focused, clinically effective and efficient arrhythmia service delivering timely identification, diagnosis, treatment and support.
You will be responsible for independent nurse led clinics including rapid access slots enabling patients to be discharged early. This is an exciting time for the Arrhythmia service at Torbay Hospital with recent recruitment of a consultant Cardiologist with a specialist in electrophysiology (EP) who is keen to develop the service further to include TLOC and ablation follow up care. In addition, the department are looking at virtual ward opportunities within cardiology.

Main duties of the job
- Ensure accurate diagnosis of patients with arrhythmia symptoms in hospital
- Autonomously assess patients in order to develop treatment plans with medical teams based on current guidelines for arrhythmia management
- Manage the cardioversion lists
- Support patients with complex cardiac devices
- Support the management of cardiac beds ensuring arrhythmia patients are cared for in the most appropriate setting available
- Provide patient and staff education across the healthcare community
- To interact with other members of the broader healthcare community ensuring that patient needs are met

The Arrhythmia team are part of the cardiac specialist nurse team which also includes the Heart Failure Team, chest pain team and cardiac rehabilitation team.
The cardiology department comprises of the coronary care unit, chest pain unit, two cardiac catheter suites, Dunlop cardiology ward and the physiology department.
