Job summary
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and innovative pharmacy assistant to join an established medicines optimisation team supporting all aspects of stock management. This post will predominantly be ward based but successful applicants will also experience working in the inpatient and outpatient dispensaries and dispatch areas.
We welcome applicants who have pharmacy experience but this is not essential as all training will be provided.
Successful applicants with no pharmacy experience will start at Band 2 £23615 to £23615 per annum until completion of training course upon which will move to Band 3 £24071 - £25674 per annum pro rata.
We are looking for someone with a friendly demeanour and excellent interpersonal skills who can work effectively within the pharmacy team and with members of the wider multidisciplinary team as well as work independently.
Main duties of the job
Within the ward based part of this role you will help manage the effective system to ensure efficient and economic provision of stock. You will assist in the provision of medicines for discharge, assist in transporting prescriptions and medicines between wards and pharmacy, undertake mandatory audits and data collection, evaluate the suitability of returned medicines for re-use, advise on stock control and any other relevant information to ensure compliance with polices and procedures.
As part of the dispensary duties you will be dispensing medicines for in-patients and for patients on discharge and dispatch duties include entering orders into the computer, packaging orders and delivering to appropriate areas.
