An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Child Health Department as a Band 3 Medical Secretary, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We are looking to recruit a secretary where your excellent organisational skills will support you with the competing demands of working in an office environment within a dynamic team of medical secretaries supporting the medical team and the families/representatives of our patients.

You will be responsible for providing comprehensive secretarial support to our consultants and team of post graduate doctors in an efficient, timely manner by assisting them in the organisation of their workload, managing their diaries and liaising with families, amongst other duties. Experience of working with the public would be an advantage.

You will work independently as well as collaboratively with your team members to complete daily tasks.

Main duties of the job

  • You will need to be a team player, with experience of working in an office environment. Experience of dealing with the public will be an advantage.
  • You will need to have good communication skills to converse with medical teams throughout the Trust as well as parents/cares and other organisations.
  • Making a difference in patient care within Child Health.
  • Organisation is key to this role as daily duties will include managing consultant diaries .
  • Ensuring that patients are booked into clinic and following up on outcomes from outpatient and inpatient visits.

The Administration team are integral to these pathways and are often the first point of contact both for professionals and service users.
