Job Overview:
The Chief Nursing Officer for England (CNO) has a vision of to bring together a collective leadership model across the country with a focus on transformational leadership, research and innovation within which everyone has a voice, no matter where they work, or the role they undertake.
The Pathway to Excellence programme is a global 'nursing excellence' framework that aims to create a positive practice environment for nursing staff.This has positively impacted: registered nursing vacancy rates; reduced pressure ulcer rates; within trajectory rates for C. Difficile; a reduction in nursing complaints; and an improvement in National Inpatient Survey results.
The Professional standards lead nurse role is key to progressing the work required to gain successful accreditation on the Pathway to Excellence Programme - including the preparation, the application and the final submission, and ensuring the meeting of the ambitious timescales.
As part of the CNO vision is the collective leadership aspect which includes a ward accreditation programme, shared decision making, and nursing and midwifery leadership including a recognition programme. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of this also.
Main duties of the job
The role and portfolio will sit alongside the existing Professional standards lead nurse, to support the delivery of:

Shared Decision Making
Leadership
The post holder will be required to embed a system of shared decision making. To promote and co design strategies to deliver against the Nursing and Midwifery Excellence programme and the professional standards portfolio.
