Job summary

The Surgical Receiving Unit (SRU) is a new unit within Torbay Hospital that takes patients directly referred from GPs, patients from the Emergency Department and patients from clinic.

We take a lot of specialities including Urology, Orthopaedics and ENT. It is a fast-paced environment where every member of the MDT supports each other and are valued.

As a sister/Charge Nurse you will provide day to day leadership to the nursing team facilitating the efficient working of the multidisciplinary team to assess care needs, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.

In this role you will be co-ordinating the running of the Surgical Receiving Unit to ensure a good patient journey and support of staff on the shift.

Main duties of the job

  • The main duties of the Sister/Charge nurse are to co-ordinate the shift whilst maintaining a calm and professional attitude
  • You will help in the day to day running of the unit, whilst helping to support the team around you to be able to deliver a high standard of care.
