Job summary
Due to secondment an exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurses to join the friendly team on Templer Ward, Newton Abbot Hospital for 9 months fixed term contract.
You must be committed to providing high quality care, and have a desire to work with patients during their recovery journey following an acute illness to enable them to be able to be discharged from hospital in a timely manner 20 beds within the ward are dedicated to specialist stroke/neuro rehabilitation.
You will possess effective communication skills to enable you to work within the multi disciplinary team. The post offers the opportunity for personal and professional development and you will be supported with continuing Professional development with in house training and support
Main duties of the job
- Provide direct nursing care to a caseload of patients during you shift , ensuring that high standards of care are maintained and provide supervision to junior staff and students on the ward
- To work as a registered nurse within a team responsible to the team leader / shift coordinator caring for patients and their carer's
- To fully utilise the learning opportunities available. You will gain an understanding of the physiological, psycho-social, spiritual and cultural needs of the patients and their carer's and to develop a broad spectrum of clinical proficiency to deliver nursing care
- To promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, their carer's, visitors and staff
- To comply with the Trust's values and expected behaviours
About us
Templer Ward is a 30 bedded ward within Newton Abbot Community Hospital.
We offer you of the chance to work within a Multi-Disciplinary team to provide ongoing care to patients following an acute illness. 20 beds are dedicated to specialist stroke/neuro rehabilitation
You will be supported to develop within your role with a continuing professional development competency profile, access to in house and external training as well as clinical supervision.
