As a Bank Healthcare Support Worker at Torbay Hospital, you'll help patients during their stay with us by making sure they get the quality care & support they deserve.

Every day will be different, so you can expect to undertake work that's as varied as it is rewarding. Sometimes the role will be tough, you will see & be involved in some challenging circumstances involving your patients in a fast paced environment delivering varied personalised care. We don't want to shy away from that, & we do know that this part of the role isn't for everyone. That is why we offer mandatory training including auto-enrolment onto our 12-week Care Certificate course.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will support teams across Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust to deliver safe and high quality care to all our patients, be adaptable and responsive in order to provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual.

Whether you are helping feed a patient, undertaking observations, providing personalised care or simply talking to our patients - you will see first hand the impact your role makes every minute you are working.

  • Minimum 6 months experience gained within the last 3 years in the care Sector
  • Able to demonstrate a good level of literacy, numeracy, verbal and written skills
  • To demonstrate experience in a caring environment in or outside of the workplace
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable

  • NVQ 2 (or equivalent) in Healthcare
  • Basic IT skills
  • Previous knowledge of hospital computer systems
