Job summary

We are looking for an exceptional Implementation Director to lead a One Devon EPIC EPR.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to change the digital health landscape for the entire One Devon Healthcare system. We have ambitious plans to increase and develop our digital maturity to support our Trusts' long-term strategic goals in order to maintain a high standard of patient care and safety to the populations we serve.

A One Devon Electronic Patient Record system (EPR) will enable our Trusts to build strong partnerships and develop better collaboration and integration with our partners across acute, secondary, primary and community care. As such, we are hugely excited to be implementing EPIC, which will enable Devon to realise it's transformation ambitions by standardising best-practice care.

Our Implementation Director will lead the strategic direction for this comprehensive and integrated EPIC EPR Programme. This role will be responsible for a successful implementation, which will be to both to a strict timeline and budget. The incumbent will ensure that its delivery is fit for purpose and is aligned to and supports each Trust's strategic objectives and future service models, including development of shared clinical pathways and of a common patient record which supports workflow across organisations.

Main duties of the job

The One Devon EPR Implementation Director will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the EPR Programme and will ensure that it fulfils its statutory responsibilities. The main duties of this role include:

  • Providing leadership, at an Executive level, with both transformational change expertise and EPR implementation experience.
  • Instilling robust programme structure and governance to deliver the transformation. Building an efficient and effective team.
  • Effectively managing a broad key stakeholder base and the ability to establish effective relationships across the workforce and our partnering organisations.
  • Being responsible for ensuing value for money from managing a programme budget more than £30m.
  • Building and developing our people to ensure sustainability and a culture of continuous improvement.

About us

Our Electronic Patient Record will be jointly owned, implemented and supported by a single team across Devon. We will be implementing EPIC which will enable Devon to realise it's major transformation ambitions by standardising care on best-practice.

This exciting and challenging programme aims to fundamentally change how we deliver health and care in Devon in a way that is both clinically and financially sustainable. In implementing the new EPR programme, we will be guided by ensuring we do the right thing for our patients and carers, people and communities as well as creating a working environment which better enables our staff to deliver the best care they can every day.

  • To oversee and be accountable for the development, progress, and delivery of the EPR Programme to time and budget and also be responsible for enabling the release of expected Programme benefits.

  • Ensure that there are clear responsibilities, roles and systems of accountability to support good governance and management across the EPR Programme and through the agreed reporting structure to our Trust Board.
  • Interpret overall health policy and strategy related to the redesign of clinical pathways and services aligning to the chosen EPR system.
  • Support and empower delivery and development of a just and learning culture, with a focus on creating teams that encourage and embrace difference and that are truly inclusive.
