Are you a Physiotherapistconsidering returning to practice? Here at Torbay Hospital we are offering supervised practice training placements to support you whilst re-registering with the HCPC.
We recognise that in order for you to be readmitted to the HCPC register you will need to update your knowledge and skills. As such, for individuals who have been out of practice for more than two years, who are required to undertake a period of updating of skills and knowledge before they can be re-registered, we are happy to support you whilst continuing your professional development.
The amount of continuing professional development that you are required to do will depend on how long you have been out of practice. Please note the return to practice pathway can be offered as either an Honorary contract or as Bank work.

Main duties of the job
- Carry out assessments and treatments of people with severe physical, cognitive, behavioural and sensory impairment and poor mobility with frequent intense physical effort on a daily basis e.g. handling of heavy body parts. This may include several short periods of static postures kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending and stretching on a daily basis.
- Ability to deal sensitively with patients and relatives that have high levels of distress, anxiety and aggression that may be caused by pain, behavioural, cognitive or physical impairment.
- On a daily basis the work pattern may be unpredictable and regularly interrupted, e.g. responding to acute circumstances such as emergency calls during a working day.
- Ability to demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills.
You will have set shift patterns as agreed with our Lead Physiotherapist in line with service requirements. Please note we are open to discussing flexible working patterns on the conditions they are in the best interest of the service. - Complete accurate patient health care records in line with trust policies and maintain confidentiality and information governance.
- Establish effective working relationships and to communicate information with the MDT regarding patient care.
- Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate an individualised physiotherapy treatment programme based on sound knowledge of evidence-based practice. (under the supervision of registered Professional)
- Demonstrate a range of clinical skills including the safe and appropriate use of equipment in line with trust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Delivery of appropriate emergency care in line with trust policies

Desirable
- Any AHP struck off from the HCPC register AHP's with conditions of practice placed against them prior to the lapse of any HCPC registration
- Individuals that have been out of face to face clinical practice but have been working within their scope of practice, as they would not need the same level of updating
- AHP's seeking employment either in the South West area or outside of Devon area
- Non registered European Union (EU) and non EU AHP's seeking HCPC registration and required to undertake a period of adaptation
