Job summary
An opportunity as arisen for a Band 6 Charge Nurse/ Sister post to work on the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU). EAU4 is a busy and friendly unit with a high turnover of patients. EAU4 is a short stay unit for patients that need 24 - 72 hours of treatment.
EAU4 has capacity of 24 patients and are looked after under Acute Medicine. We are recruiting an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse who is ready for a new challenge in their career. We require staff to provide high quality care to all our patients.
Training and support will be given depending on experience. This is an opportunity to gain management experience and to develop yourself clinically and professionally with the support of the other experienced and established Band 6's and the Ward manager.
You will be responsible for coordinating the shift and supporting the staff on your shift.
Full and part - time hours available.
Main duties of the job
- To work as part of a team both on the ward as a band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse, but also with other multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure a seamless delivery of service
- To co-ordinate the ward to maintain flow and the patients journey
- To assess the care needs of the patients and their families. To support the team to develop, implement & evaluate the care to a high standard, whilst demonstrating a compassionate nature and maintaining patients dignity
- To participate as a skilled member of the multi-disciplinary team
- To act as clinical advisor on nursing issues to ensure a high-standard of care is maintained utilising evidence-based practice
- To participate in direct care and to facilitate sound discharge planning
About us
EAU4 at Torbay Hospital is a busy unit and consists of 24 bedded emergency assessment unit. The ward admits patients of all specialities referred from ED such as Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Gastroenterology and Chronic Health conditions but predominately medicine and has a high turnover on each shift. Staff are also exposed to managing patients with a higher acuity at times on the unit.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and forward-thinking senior nurse who is keen to embrace the challenge acute nursing brings.
