Job summary
A clinical post which provides the highest achievable standard of care, following individual patient assessment of needs.
- To work effectively and without direct supervision alongside Registered Nurses/Practitioners within the ward/hospital as required on a daily basis
- Undertake supervision and where appropriate assist with the orientation of staff unfamiliar with the department

- Working clinically to ensure the safety and quality of the care given to your designated patients, under the indirect supervision of a registered nurse/practitioner
- Undertaking the following, but not restricted to, clinical tasks competently and efficiently:
- Cannulation and Venepuncture
- Catheterisation - male and female
- Wound Care and basic wound closure
- Performing ECGs
- Competently taking and interpreting Vital signs on adults
- Able to make appropriate referrals to Adult and Child Safeguarding teams
- Supporting and working with colleagues during the shift
- Liaising with the wider MDT to maintain safety
- Helping to facilitate the development of the service as part of the wider team
- To participate in discussions and projects that will benefit the team, the patients and the ward as a whole
- Working under guidance and in conjunction with the senior nursing team and the Matron
- Following the Trust's Policies and Protocols to ensure the safety of the department

Brixham Community Hospital has one 20 bedded ward and supports out patient services at Paignton Health and Wellbeing Centre
The Healthcare Support Worker Band 3 plays a key role in supporting our team of Registered Nurses and senior clinical staff in the planning, delivery and evaluation of care. You will play a part in meeting our service users complex needs and ensuring good outcomes. Our service users may require sub-acute care, rehabilitation and End of Life care. You will be working in a friendly and supportive, multi-disciplinary team who are committed to providing high standards of compassionate, individualised care. You may also be asked to support outpatient services at our well being hub in Paignton
